Benbaun at 729m is the highest peak of the 12 Bens. It is also the highest point in County Galway.
The 12 Bens are alpine like and consist of mainly quartize rock which is evident on Benbaun which on a bright day glistens and appears almost white. Benbaun- “White Ben”
We plan to climb Benbaun from Glencorbet farm via the Knockpasheemore ridge.
This is a tough demanding hike over mixed terrain and requires a good level of fitness. Nevertheless the rewards are great with reaching the highest peak of the entire 12 Ben’s range, also ticking off the Galway county top not to mention the stunning views in good visibility
