Benbulben, known as Sligo's table mountain overlooking Sligo bay with commanding views across Donegal bay to Slieve League and the highest sea cliffs in Ireland. If the visibility is good we will see Croagh Patrick in the distance.
There will be opportunity to learn about the unique flora that grows high up in the north facing gullys. Plants like Tea Leafed Willow and Fringed Sandwort have been proven to have pre dated the ice age. Also learn about Roseroot, a lovely alpine type plant which traditionally has been used for medicinal purposes, and grows naturally in the arctic regions of Europe.
At the nose of Benbulben we will look down over Drumcliffe, the resting place of Sligo's famous poet WB Yeats.
