Knocknarea - A festive hike off the beaten trail

You are invited to join us on this festive fun event and explore the hidden gems of Knocknarea that are so often not seen by the countless number of visitors to this ancient landmark with its large cairn, the burial place of Queen Maeve, legendary queen of Connacht.

We will meet at Knocknarea car park at 10:00am

The hike will take us off the beaten path to overlook Ballisodare bay and Culleenamore beach. We will cross the ancient famine wall and follow along the edge to reach the top of the board walk.
In 2014 archaeologists at Sligo ATU discovered a number of caves dating back to the stone age where the skeletal remains of an adult and child were found.
These caves are largely hidden from view. It is planned to explore these on our hike. Please bring head torch or flash light.
Finally we will descend along the northern famine wall overlooking Sligo bay and majestic Benbulben.

This hike promises lots of festive fun and treats and very suitable for families.
Christmas hats or outfits are welcome. Ho Ho Ho

Cost: Adults 20 euro and children half price.
