Croagh Patrick via Bengoram (A unique approach)

Croagh Patrick is the third highest mountain in Connaught. It is 764m high and nicknamed "The Reek"

According to Christian tradition, St. Patrick went up the sacred mountain at festival time in 441 AD. After fasting at the summit for 40 days, he banished all the snakes and demons from Ireland.

The normal route is from Murrisk and is climbed by countless thousands of pilgrims and tourists per year.

We plan to climb Croagh Patrick via Ben Goram which is a westerly spur and provides a nice quiet alternative.

The climb via Ben Goram is very beautiful and superior in every way to the crowded pilgrim path and highly recommended.

Meeting point: Pilgrim car park at 9:30am.

We will then drive a shot distance to the start of the hike on the western spur

Cost: 35 Euro per person.

Time 5 to 6 hours.
